Fire Blocking Gel Kits Available for Lake Hodges Neighborhoods/Lomas Serenas

Disaster and Fire Preparedness – Gel saved homes during 2007 firestorm
The Lake Hodges Fire Safe Council has a limited supply of Barricade Fire Blocking Gel kits available for sale to residents located within the Lomas Serenas community and The Lake Hodges Fire District. (Zip codes 92025 & 92029)
Barricade Fire Blocking Gel was used by local fire departments to save a number of homes during the recent firestorm.
The kit is packaged for homeowner use and includes an instruction video, educator nozzle, pickup tube, quick connect and four 1-gallon containers of the gel. One gallon covers approximately 500-700 square feet of area with a 1/4″ thickness. One box is sufficient for an average size home, and two boxes are recommended for a large home. Three boxes can be shared by two homeowners. The total amount of gel needed depends on siding materials, eaves, number of woindows, amount of wood, decks, gazebos, fences, shrubs, shed, etc. The gel is nontoxic, biodegradable, and endorsed by the EPA, and is intended to be applied prior to evacuation due to oncoming fire. The gel can be rehydrated several times with a light water mist and remain effective up to 24 to 36 hours after application, depending on sunlight, wind and humidity conditions.
If purchased directly from an authorized dealer, the Barricade Fire Blocking Gel Kits sell for $326 each, plus tax and shipping. The Lake Hodges Fire Safe Council is selling each kit for a total price of $296 (buyer must pick up product). Purchase limit: 2 per household so as many residents can benefit as possible from this price. Supplies are limited.
To purchase a kit, please send an email to Lakehodges@cox.net
