San Diego Real Estate: Coronado Community Profile
Coronado is Spanish for ‘the crowned one’, and thusly nicknamed The Crown City, it is situated just minutes from Downtown San Diego.
Although commonly referred to as an island, Coronado is in fact a peninsula, connected to San Diego by a narrow strip of land called the Silver Strand.
The City of Coronado carries with it a great cultural and historical heritage that can be seen throughout its preservation of numerous noteworthy, distinguished homes and to a variety of unique and valuable resources within the community that reflect its history and village charm. The Coronado Bridge, with its distinguishing curve and elevated sweep, quickly became an area landmark after its opening in 1969, and was the first structural conquest of the San Diego Bay.
