Take Control As The “Manager” of Your Time

Stressed Out?Feeling as though you just can’t get a grasp on the “million” things you need to get done in a very short 24 hour period of time?  We’re all given the same amount of time.  The same 24 hours that every human being is given. SO WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? How we decide to use that time to accomplish what it is we want to get done is truly 100% up to us.  We are all “managers” of our own universe.  The following article can really help in simplifying your life and relieving the stress that robs us of an enjoyable successful life.

Too Much to Do, Too Little Time
By: Brian Tracy

The most common form of stress that we experience is the feeling of being overwhelmed with far too much to do and having too little time to do it in. In fact, “time poverty” is the biggest single problem facing most managers in America today. We simply do not have enough time to fulfill all our responsibilities. Because of budget limitations, staff cutbacks, downsizing, and competitive pressures, individual managers are forced to take on more and more work, all of which appears to be indispensable to the smooth functioning of our company or department.

Become an Expert
The solution to this problem of work overload is for you to become an expert on time management. There is probably no other skill that you can learn that will give you a “bigger bang for the buck” than to become extremely knowledgeable and experienced in using time management practices.

Be Open to New Ideas
The most foolish manager of all is either the manager who feels that he has no time to learn about time management or, even worse, the manager who, while being overwhelmed with work, feels that he already knows all that he needs to know about the subject.

Never Stop Learning
The fact is that you can study time management and take time management courses for your entire business life and you will still never learn everything you need to know to get the most out of yourself while doing your job in the most efficient way.

The Keys to Time Management
The two indispensable keys to time management are:1) the ability to set priorities; and 2) the ability to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing at a time. Since there is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done, you must be continually setting priorities on your activities. Perhaps the very best question that you can memorize and repeat, over and over, is, “what is the most valuable use of my time right now?”

The Best Question of All
This question, “what is the most valuable use of my time right now?” will do more to keep you on track, hour by hour, than any other single question in the list of time management strategies.

The natural tendency for all of us is to major in minors and to give in to the temptation to clear up small things first. After all, small things are easier and they are often more fun than the big, important things that represent the most valuable use of your time.

Start With Your Top Tasks
However, the self-discipline of organizing your work and focusing on your highest value tasks is the starting point of getting your time under control and lowering your stress levels.

Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to get your time under control.

First, make a decision today to become an expert on time management. Read the books, listen to the audio programs, and take a time management course. Then, practice, practice, practice every day until you master time management skills.

Second, set clear priorities on your work each day, before you begin. Then, discipline yourself to start on your most important task and stay at that until it is complete. This will relieve much of your stress immediately.

Now it’s up to you. Make life enjoyable. Put these ideas into practice and become the person you want to become. It’s never too late!

More Money? Who wouldn’t Want More $$$

Who wouldn’t want to have more money?
More time to spend it and more time to do what you really want to do…
Sounds like a dumb question. Everyone has the ability to achieve all the above.

This article from Brian Tracy really hit home with me and hits the mark when it comes to using your time wisely. I hope it does as well with you.

“It’s really not the money that makes you happy!  It’s what having money allows you to do.” You may want to spend more time with your family, attend more of your kid’s events or work more with your favorite charitable organization. It’s really up to you to decide.

Boost Your Productivity
By: Brian Tracy

Push to the Top

All successful people are very productive. They work longer hours and they work better hours. They get a lot more done than the average person. They get paid more and promoted faster. They are highly respected and esteemed by everyone around them. They become leaders and role models. Inevitably, they rise to the top of their fields and to the top of their income ranges, and so can you.

Everything is Learnable
Every single one of these tested and proven strategies for managing your time and doubling your productivity is learnable through practice and repetition. Each of these methods will eventually become a habit of both thinking and working.

The Payoff is Remarkable
When you begin applying these techniques to your work and to your life, your self-esteem, self-confidence, self-respect and sense of personal pride will go up immediately. The pay off for you will be tremendous, for the rest of your life.

Make A Decision!
Every positive change in your life begins with a clear, unequivocal decision that you are going to either do something or stop doing something. Significant change starts when you decide to either get in or get out, either fish or cut bait.

The Vital Quality of Success
Decisiveness is one of the most important qualities of successful and happy men and women, and decisiveness is developed through practice and repetition, over and over again until it becomes as natural to you as breathing in and breathing out.

Why People Are Poor
The sad fact is that people are poor because they have not yet decided to be rich. People are overweight and unfit because they have not yet decided to be thin and fit. People are inefficient time wasters because they haven’t yet decided to be highly productive in everything they do.

Become An Expert
Decide today that you are going to become an expert in time management and personal productivity, no matter how long it takes or how much you invest in it. Resolve today that you are going to practice these principles, over and over again until they become second nature.

Action Exercises
Here are two steps you can take immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, hold your own feet to the fire. Resolve to start earlier, work harder and stay later. Don’t let yourself off the hook.

Second, become an expert in time management. Learn and practice time management techniques every day until they become habits.

Now, make it your heart’s desire to become the person you really want to become and don’t let anything stand in your way.

“It’s Not What You Know That Will Hurt You, It’s What You Know That Ain’t So!”

inman-banner.jpg

Boy, how true this really is when it comes to Real Estate news and technology. I was very fortunate to be able to attend the Inman News Conference in San Francisco last week and what an eye opener it was. Listening to many nationally known leaders in the industry helped put this “lousy” market into perspective.

Facts are being spun the way the media wants them for sensationalism and to increase readership. Are they truthful? To a point, yes.

But they spin it for their own profits/sales. Check out the facts. Especially in your own local market place. What’s happening nationally isn’t necessarily what is fact in your location. Technology is really taking a lead role in imparting facts to the consumer.

How do you get the facts? You have to be resourceful.

Blogging has become a monster in this information/technology support and you can find infomation on just about anything. The question becomes, how do you know what’s being discussed is accurate.

It’s all about the author/source. Can they substatiate the facts? Check them out.

Want To Hire A Realtor Who Agrees With You?

In your search for a qualified and educated Realtor to work with on the marketing of your home or the search for a new home, there a few things to keep in mind. Your professional Realtor will supply you with facts and information to make a truly qualified decision about timing, price, marketing strategy and staging your property.

handshake.jpg

You may not necessarily agree with their evaluation of what the list price or the suggested offer price might be, however you can and should feel confident that you have hired an agent with the experience and ability to understand and be able to explain the market conditions of the specific area you are interested in.

They must also be interpreting the “Comps” and “Conditions” that exist in your neighborhood to help in your making the very best decisions.

So many times, Sellers and Buyers will lose out on the first few attempts because they did not “trust” the opinion of their Realtor.

This frequently results in lost time and quite often dollars.

If you don’t have confidence in the professional person you have chosen then you are undoubtably working with the wrong person.

Have confidence in your Realtor, and happy selling!
