Giving Thanks By Giving at Casa De Las Campanas
When leaves begin to change color and fall to the ground, we begin to think of that fall institution, Thanksgiving. This is a time to think of all the goodness in our lives, and of giving. Many people plan to spend a festive holiday at home with family, over a sumptuous meal. Others think of presenting themselves at the Salvation Army, Interfaith council, and Father Joe’s Village to serve food to those less bountiful.
This year, the food pantries are alarmingly low as more people have been layed off, cut back, downsized, and just plane without work. Then there are the many families who have lost their homes to foreclosures and short sales. This necessitates a visit to those places that normally are prepared to help them out with a bag of groceries. But this year, the vastly increased demand has depleted the stockpile.
Casa De Las Campanas residents heard of the need and decided to invite their employees to join them in a drive to raise as much food as possible between November 1 and Novermber 20, to present to the San Diego Food Bank.
City Councilman Carl DeMaio was so excited when he heard about this generous effort, he agreed to come and say a few words of gratitude on behalf of the community. Stay tuned for the results.

4S Ranch Fall Festival a Winner!

Each year since the 4S Ranch community came into existence, the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce has done an outstanding job of hosting a whizz bang street fair. This year was no different, except the location – 4S Ranch Parkway. A park running down the center of two streets, gave an enhanced setting to the event.
Just the steady stream of talent performing on center stage could occupy visitors for the whole day: Dancers, singers, baton twirlers, Martial Arts demonstrations, hula hoop contests, and more. Rob the DJ did his usual fantastic job of steady commentary and prize winning contests.
Vendors artfully displayed their wares, some who are standards in our community, like Time Warner, Center For Health Care. Others, unique boutiques of jewelry, art, clothing, toys, solar heating, you name it.
Then there is the Kiddieland where children could ride flying pink elephants, a dragon, or whirl round and round in flying saucer fashion. Next came the food. Tacos, hot dogs, and tri-tips sandwiches from Hungry Hunter, assorted Asian foods, ice cream from Cold Stone, kettle corn, row upon row to tempt you away from your diet.
Next, the Cultural Center featured the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society, Sikes Adobe, the Friends of the 4S Ranch Library, and this year something new: Local Area Authors. One of their number, Mary Quigley, brought together a dozen talented published authors with their books ranging from romance, mystery, sci-fi, just about every genre. These Authors came prepared to share not only their particular triumphs, but tips for aspiring writers.
The weather remained generally steady at 85 degrees, and a cool breeze blew. Seemingly, every other visitor was accompanied by a pooch or youngsters. It was truly a community day that did not strain the budget! Watch the papers for the next such event at RB Alive! in June, and do it all again.

Exclusive Properties’s Community Service Day
Posted by Nancy Canfield | Leave A Comment »
It is such a delight to work with a company and a group of people who value community service as much as I do. I read somewhere that your community is just an extension of yourself.
My vision is that we are part of a family when we are born. We add friends and significant others. We add pets and children. We belong to a Church, school, neighborhood, community, city, state, country, planet, solar system. We keep opening our arms wider and wider, to accept others into our circle.
Love is truly the one thing that never runs out no matter how much we give away. It’s like lighting a candle, then lighting another with that one, and so on. It just keeps burning bright! Happy Labor Day One and All!

Good Advice

Be the Lighthouse, Shine the Brightest, and the Boats will come to you.
That is a piece of advice I gleaned from the book, Attracting Perfect Customers by Stacey Hall & Jane Brogniez when I first went into Real Estate. By shine the brightest they mean to constantly improve yourself, learn, grow, be a better person, have the best tools and knowledge, and clients will find you. I like to share these valuable words whenever I can, and hope they will be as meaningful and powerful for you as they have been for me.

Why Exclusive Properties?
Winder-who? Exclusive Properties, the newest real estate office in town has attracted Nancy Canfield with its amazing programs, charismatic leadership, and highly charged environment. It is one of the largest real estate firms in the country.
“From the moment you walk in the front door and hear the floor to ceiling waterfall, there is great chi – energy,” Canfield said. “I have always worked for an excellent company, but I needed to recharge myself, my career, and learn how to better navigate these difficult waters in Real Estate today.
Many of the agents we sit opposite in a transaction have only recently gotten their licenses, or, if experienced, are forced to work in a foreign atmosphere of short sales, auctions, and foreclosures. It takes time and lots of work to become adept at the complications of real estate transactions. Gone are the days where you can plunk a For Sale By Owner sign in front of your house, and wing it. Inevitably, with rare exception, the seller will leave thousands of dollars on the table.”
“Truthfully, I have resisted a lot of the new tools available on the internet, like Social Networking: Facebook, Twitter, and the like. But I’ve learned what they are and a bit about how they can supplement good agents.
I’ve always favored the personal touch, visiting clients, assisting in all of their moving needs, estate sales, finding a new home, moving into a retirement community, and I always will.
I liken my service to handknitting an Irish sweater versus one made on a machine. I guess, to complete the analogy, now I’m willing to use commercial buttons instead of handmaking them, too. Does that make sense?”
