Hats Off To Volunteers!
Posted by Nancy Canfield | Leave A Comment »
The National Hats Off to Volunteers Award program strives to recognize the many dedicated volunteers who are the real infrastucture of the United States. Thinking back to the signers of the Declaration of Independence, those men were not jeopardizing their lives just so they would come up first on Google! They sacrificed because they believe in our nation, our freedom. You may say the same for Jonas Salk who developed the Salk Vaccine, and erradicated Polio. Not all of the contributions are on such a grand scale: How about Rosa Parks’ contribution – refusing to sit at the back of the bus she changed the course of segregation?
All over America, in every City and every town, we have the opportunity to serve, to contribute. Nowhere is that drive stronger than in Rancho Bernardo. After the fires of 2007, there were so many grassroots efforts to help those afflicted, that the RB United Coalition was born. Recently, residents packed over 1,000,000 meals to send to the hungry, in Haiti, in Chile, and to our own Appalachian poor. I was enriched, not depleted, to be part of both of these efforts.
On Saturday, April 24, over eighty volunteers were honored for their own contribution, and for that of their teams. For me, I accepted the honor from our City Councilman Carl DeMaio and our Republican Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher. As President of the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society, editor, and Chair of the Fundraising Committee, I was accepting not only for myself, but for our board of eighteen equally dedicated supporters. We will have our own ceremony, to single them out for their dedication.
You may recongnize Republican Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher as the leader of the Chelsea’s Law movement, an effort to pass tougher penalties for sexual predators. He has a two year old. He feels the pain of every parent whose child has been threatened.
We at Exclusive Properties strive as a group, and as individuals, to make a difference with our volunteer efforts individually, and as a group. Perhaps we learned long ago that “The Getting is in the Giving!” See you Friday, June 18 at the next Exclusive Properties Community Service Day!

Exclusive Properties Agent Next Honorary Mayor of Rancho Bernardo!
Posted by Nancy Canfield | Leave A Comment »

That’s right, our own RB Exclusive Properties Agent Patti Hall is a candidate for the position of Honorary Mayor of Rancho Bernardo . What does that mean, you ask? Well, as the only twice winner myself in 07 and 08 (humble bow) I can speak on that subject.
The position was begun by the then Rancho Bernardo Chamber of Commerce over 20 years ago. RB could never get the city of SD Mayor out to its events, as we were considered not that important, a retirement community, little clout. So, the Chamber of Commerce, decided to have their own Mayor who would oversee ribbon cuttings for new businesses, officiate at the Thanksgiving and State of the Community luncheons, and as general ambassador at street fairs, election campaigns, and similar community events. During the fires of 2007, i was frequently interviewed for my insight into the RB Community.
The win is not by popularity, but just like real elections – candidates buy the votes:) That is, they host three or four fundraisers where guests donate and are treated to scrumptuous food, buy raffle tickets, and perhaps enjoy an entertainment. The important part is that the money raised goes to the Chambers’ community programs.
Patti asked that a portion of her proceeds go specifically to Education, as there are so many needs at the local schools, due to severe budget cuts. For instance, the RB High Library‘s books average 18 years old - older than most of the 1200 kids who research and study there every day! Likewise, local schools need funds for children whose families are unable to provide adequate food and necessities each day. So, money you donate to Patti’s campaign is going to the essential needs of our kids! And, they may be tax deductible.
San Diego North Chamber of Commerce, encompassing Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Carmel Mountain, Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, and parts of Escondido, has over 1,200 members. The 1,200 pound Gorilla has way more clout these days! Actually, Mayor Sanders loves to come out here where he got started on his first police patrol many years ago.
Patti will be holding four fundraising events where you can ‘purchase votes’ for as little as $5 each or 6 for $25. To learn more about Patti and her campaign, call her at (858) 414-3950 or email Patti at patti [email protected] to purchase tickets today.

Be a Part of Something Extraordinary

What a Day for the Hungry around the world!
And you can still help today….
Thousands of people trudged past Exclusive Properties Rancho Bernardo Saturday, on their way to the Church of Rancho Bernardo. There, the goal was to help feed the starving of Tanzania, Haiti, and right here in the USA: The Million Meal Event. Thousands of volunteers showed up to assemble meals kits that would feed 8 people per packet. The goal was well on its way to succeeding by 2 pm Saturday:
There were over 260,000 meals completed, with six more hours to go on Sat. and all day Sunday, to go. That’s where you come in.
Here is your chance to assemble meal kits consisting of dried vegetables, rice, tofu, and seasoning into Ziploc type bags.
Exclusive Properties has a booth to help sponsor the event. Steve Rodgers stood beside me on the line, quietly assembling, undoubtedly moved by the hands-on effort. At the end of my shift, covered in a light dusting of seasoning, back aching from standing for hours, scooping and reaching, I felt exhilarated! So can you. Go down there, spend an hour, and you’ll be rejuvenated!

A bike ride away from the Ocean, Lake Hodges, Westfield Mall, Felicita Park, Escondido Shopping, freeway access, and so much more. Southwest Escondido has a tranquil community with avocado and citrus orchards, includes Summer Creek, where this home, over 2,000 square feet, perches on a half acre.
Back and side patios have fountains, low maintainance landscaping, and in front, a sweeping driveway takes you to the three car garage. Play golf? You’re not far from the Escondido Country Club and RB Inn Golf Courses. For the kids? The Wild Animal Park , Escondido Performing Arts Center, Poway Performing Arts Center, and Poway Lake radiate out within twenty miles or so. You’re not buying a home, you’re buying a way of life. Take a look, you’ll be glad you did. Open Sun. 1-3
