Going Green!! From Reusable Bags to Saving Paper

I’d like to thank everyone for their responses on my last Go Green Blog! I hope that you are all practicing, as well as, passing on the word to Ban the Bag!!

Maybe now in the grocery store when you are asked “paper or plastic??”, you will have your reuse bags! You’ll hand them over to the bagger with a proud smile, and of course Linda Grubbs, REALTOR from Exclusive Properties comes to mind!!  Great!  Remember me also, when needing a real estate professional in San Diego Ca.

But, what if you forgot to take those reuse bags from the pantry?

You are still in the practice mode ……you are bummed at yourself…..not to worry, because Linda Grubbs, REALTOR from Exclusive Properties comes to mind!!! And you think, “I will remember what Linda taught me and put my reuse bags in the car to use for my impromptu shopping!! Maybe you’ll even reuse those cute boutique bags when shopping at the mall…

With all of that running through your mind, your respond “paper!”, and you think to yourself, Linda will be proud, paper is green, and recyclable.

This is true, but you should know with a little research what I have learned about paper!!  Check out this site, Where paper bags come from, scroll down and look at one picture of the plowing of a forest, the massive machinery, semi-trucks, large water vessels and helicopters too, all using the fossil fuel and slowly, but surely wasting away our world!!

As you read more into the article, you will learn how much more energy and water it takes the process from tree to bag.

With all that being said, or read, and brought to mind, I would like you to be conscience of paper at home and at the office, from paper towels, and paper plates to unnecessary printing and reusing file folders when you can.

Lesson 1:  Reuse Bags.        Lesson 2:  Reduce Paper Waste

Just conserving in any and every way, every day will go so far!!!

I will continue to write about more ways to help preserve our beautiful city, but you can feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about going green or real estate.

Going Green!! Practice turns to Habit, Habit turns to Lifestyle

We all see and hear it everywhere, TV commercials, news paper and magazine articles, websites……GREEN, GREEN, GREEN.

If you are like me, when you are not conserving, the guilt is taking over!! It can be as easy as, planning out our week, scheduling errands grouped together strategically to be efficient to conserve not only on gas emissions, but wear and tear on your car which would be saving you dollars by saving on mileage for oil changes, tune ups and new tires, but also your time, it only makes sense to live like this daily. I think back and my Grand Mom taught me these things and hopefully you too had a Grand Mom that used to say “Waste Not, Want Not”.

One simple practice where you can immediately make a difference is BAN THE BAG, as San Francisco did in their large markets and pharmacies in March of 2008, as well as, a number of cities and countries in the world!!  Check out this site for your reference, Ban The Bag.

The reuse bags are everywhere! Invest in some now before you are paying for the plastics which could cost you more than you pay for redemption for cans and bottles, but with the plastics no chance to recycle your money back to your pocket, be sure to keep your reuse bags in your car! Not your pantry or garage, keep them with you everywhere and at all times.

I have a great reuse bag that I got in a birthday package. This is made of nylon and stuffs itself up in a little pouch (sort of like a sleeping bag), which makes it very convenient to carry in my purse and very handy to have at hand at all times!!

So, I know that my friend found it here at this website. Chicobag.com It was a great gift to me, but more so to the environment. Please be more conscience, start your habit, and it will change your lifestyle, and the next time I am in line at the grocer, I hope to count more people using reuse bags than not.

Be sure to look for the next practice tip, which you can use to live a greener lifestyle.

Sincerely, Linda Grubbs
