Listen to Exclusive Properties’s President and Director of Marketing Talk about Social Media on BizFit 1700

Steve Rodgers and I joined the Bizfit 1700 radio hosts for a special show about Social Media and real estate.  Steve gave an update on the San Diego real estate marketing, citing the latest home sale reports and predictions for foreclosures.

Then we dove in to how the rise of social media has moved conversations into new playing fields. Content has become more important than cash and user-generated information is the most trusted.  The trend is moving away from directory style portals and into human narratives.  Video is king and Facebook is the fifth largest country.

You can download the show as a Podcast from iTunes.  Or tune in to 1700 AM on Saturday, September 12th  @ 11:00 a.m. to hear the replay. (original air date was August 24, 2009 from 12-1 p.m.)

BizFit San Diego is hosted by Kory Kavanewsky and airs every Monday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.  Kory, a Branch Manager for the Frendsdorf Group, uses his financial background and broadcast savvy to  interview industry professionals.  With humor and good taste he explores popular issues in what has been called “San Diego most fun and entertaining business talk show.”

Exclusive Properties affiliates are big fans of the show and we look forward to coming in to the studio each month.  Expect to hear from our experts in real estate, marketing, mortgages, insurance and more!

My San Diego STAYcation: Wicked the Musical at the San Diego Civic Theatre

I crossed another item off my list of new things to do on  my San Diego STAYcation!

On August 28th I went to see the musical Wicked at the San Diego Civic Theater.

We kicked off our night with drinks at the Gaslamp Strip Club (just a steak restaurant with a cute name) and then had dinner at Blue Point Coastal Cuisine.

Wicked was fantastic!  Since it’s debut in 2003, Wicked has broken box office records around the world.    The music is great and the story is captivating.

My favorite Wicked song was “Popular” because “It’s all about popular“.

I also LOVED the uber-sparkly dress Glinda (the Good Witch) wears in the final scenes.  You can check out her sparkly dress and other costumes in this YouTube video interview with Dianne Pilkington. My inside sources tell me that the dress the sparkly dress is covered in crystals and costs more than $15,000!

A fun factChandra Lee Schwartz (who played the lead role of Glinda in Wicked) is the daughter of Eileen Schwartz, the Director of Education at Exclusive Properties.

A bit about the play from Wikipedia:

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, a parallel novel of L. Frank Baum‘s classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz. Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard‘s corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba’s public fall from grace

Some of NEW activities I tried this summer are: Attending Opening Day at the Del Mar races and going to my first country music concert (Toby Keith and Trace Adkins) and Beach Yoga.

My San Diego STAYcation: Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Thai Massages on The Beach

My San Diego STAYcation is progressing with style!  I am breaking out of ordinary routines and allowing myself to take in new experiences.

Some of exciting and NEW things I have tried this summer are: Attending Opening Day at the Del Mar races and going to my first country music concert, Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.

I had hoped that this summer I would take my experiences to new heights and go sky diving.  That idea sounded great, but was quickly vetoed by my darling fiance.  He wants me to make it to the wedding.

No biggie — what’s an incredibly safe activity I could undertake?  Something new, fun and firmly routed on the ground.

BEACH YOGA!

yoga postcard

Last week, Erik and I were delighted to have two great high schools friends (just married!) visit from New York City.  The boys took a day to play golf in Coronado, leaving me with the opportunity to bring Danielle out for a West Coast adventure.

I contacted my yoga studio (I go to Sculpt Fusion) and asked about private sessions.  The owners (so helpful!) paired me with Merideth, an expert yoga teacher and Thai masseuse.

We met Merideth at 10:00 a.m. on the grassy knoll called Powerhouse Park. We set up our mats overlooking the pristine Del Mar beach; the crashing waves were the perfect back drop.

For 2 hours we practiced a series of yoga poses, called a Vinyasa flow.  Merideth led us through meditations, adjusted our poses and used peppermint oils to massage our muscles.  AMAZING!

I was nervous that I would be distracted by beach goers, but it was surprisingly easy to concentrate. Merideth helped Danielle and I focus on our breath and tune out the world around us.  The ocean became a hazy backdrop and the lookie loos  around us disappeared.

Without question, this was a phenomenal morning.  The workout was serious; we left exhausted but energized.

If you have even the slightest interest in yoga, I highly recommend enjoying a private session every now and again. The personal attention is so great if you want to better posture and well… the massage aspect doesn’t exactly hurt!

Whatever you are interested in, don’t be afraid to take it to a new level and spoil yourself a bit. It’s a great way to make your life feel like one long vacation.
