Part of being a real estate agent is matching a buyer with the perfect home in the perfect community. But many times, behind the scenes of the typical agent activities of listing, marketing and the process of negotiating, is a person quietly helping increase the value of your home and your neighborhood through community service.
An agent’s intimate knowledge of local communities is key in finding buyers the right home. It also means that agents take pride in their respected communities where they live and work, and are dedicated to making sure their communities thrive. Their success can be your reward.
In today’s business, “Cause Marketing” has become more than just a cliché. As it turns out most consumers are concerned with the future of their community and would prefer to do business with companies that support an organization or cause. Research shows that people are more likely to buy products from companies that associate themselves with a cause. In some cases the result can be as significant as 74%.
While smart companies will heed this advice, the truth is professional real estate agents are typically more active in volunteer work than the average service or product provider. Plus, real estate agents that have a stronger bond with the community they live and work in are more successful than those that choose not to get involved.
Lori Staehling former president of the San Diego Association of Realtors has seen a tremendous level of involvement from different realtors from many different brokerages and additional community residents come together to participate in a project each year to support “Rebuilding Together” by renovating homes for homeowners who are unable to do so themselves.
“While helping someone who either physically or financially can’t keep up with home repairs is rewarding, there is an additional benefit of improving neighborhoods as neighbors are inspired to improve their homes as well. The feeling of pride and hope can be very catching,” added Staehling.
In short real estate agents are often very involved in community service because of the commitment to their neighborhoods and communities that runs deep in the heart and mind of professional real estate agents. While an agent has a responsibility to their community; additionally, each agent can positively affect the value of local homes through their actions. Their continued commitment to the community is a very effective way to keep the San Diego market viable and strong.
“Supporting communities is part of our corporate culture,” says Erica Vautier, Director of Marketing for Exclusive Properties. “While we know there is a payback to us, our motivation is really to help others.”
For over two decades Exclusive Properties Real Estate has hosted an annual community service day with events ranging from landscaping and repairing parks, playgrounds, schools, shelters and community buildings to spending time with children who might need a little extra attention.
Vautier added, “June 19th will mark the 26th Annual Community Service Day for Exclusive Properties and all San Diego offices will be participating in a duel location blood drive as well as a canned food drive. We look forward to a great turnout.”
Professional real estate agents support your neighborhood and home value with their service while helping you fulfill the American dream of homeownership. After all, their work isn’t just about houses, it’s about people.
