Windermere Agents Plan Blood Drive and Canned Food Drive for Local Charities

Since 1984, Windermere Real Estate associates have taken a day off to get involved in their communities and this year will be no different. On June 19th, 2009 marks the 26th Annual Community Service Day for Windermere Real Estate. This year, Windermere’s San Diego offices will be hosting a blood drive and food drive to coincide with Windermere’s national efforts.

As Windermere Real Estate continues to expand throughout San Diego County, so do our efforts to support residents in need,” said Steve Rodgers, President of Windermere Exclusive Properties. “As of today there are over 250 Windermere agents in San Diego. If each agent donates a full day’s work, then Windermere Real Estate will donate over 2000 hours of community service to truly deserving organizations.”

Linda Schechner, Chairmen of Community Service Day for Windermere, has been the leader in planning the Community Service Day in San Diego for the past seven years. “The goal of Community Service Day is to provide support for children in need. Three of the previous four years we’ve worked with the Armed Services YMCA of Camp Pendleton, giving a little extra attention to some great kids whose parents were deployed defending our country. This year the focus of our efforts will surround our first ever blood drive with each donated pint directly benefiting the Children’s Hospital.”

The blood drive will have two locations, the first of which will be at the Carlsbad Forum, located at 1905 Calle Barcelona, behind the Bed Bath and Beyond and Windermere Offices. The other will be in Rancho Bernardo at 16890 Bernardo Center Drive directly across from the Plaza. Both locations will run from 10:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.

Additionally, each Windermere San Diego office will be hosting a food drive to support one of two community support centers. The Coastal Offices, including Carlsbad and Encinitas locations, will be donating canned food to the Carlsbad Community Resource Center and the remaining offices will be supporting the North County Inner Faith Community Service Center.

The most requested items by the centers are tuna, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned chili, peanut butter/jelly, canned pasta meals, spaghetti sauce, dried pasta, macaroni & cheese and diapers sized at 3, 4 and 5.

All San Diego residents are encouraged to support Windermere’s efforts and drop off food at the nearest San Diego office location.

Over the past 7 years Windermere’s San Diego locations have held book drives, painted street numbers for local fire departments, donated hours to the US Open in hopes of raising money for local charities and worked with the Armed Services YMCA of Camp Pendleton.
